The Ballad of An Eagle in Bududa

(To the tune of: Theme to the Beverly Hillbillies)

“Come and listen to my story about a man named Dave,
The old Philly boy, the Eagles he did crave,
And then one day he moved to Bududa,
And the Eagles won the division, Halleluiah!”   13 and 3, Home field advantage….

“The next thing you know, Dave makes it just so,
Buys Game Day Live and Bird’s Football Radio,
First up Atlanta, things are looking pretty,
Now it’s time to get down to the nitty-gritty.”   Playoff football, Streamin’ live….

“Oh the internet was weak, no sound or video,
Getting delayed stats was the only way to go,
Friends back home are seeing where it’s at,
All I can say is, “Thank God for What’s App!””   A real squeaker, 15-10….

“Next up the Vikings and he goes to Sipi Falls,
Looking for reception that will tell it all,
Doesn’t get the stream, but gets the radio,
Rickie Ricardo in Spanish, Magnifico!”   Winnin’ big, NFC Champs….

The live stream is working for Super Bowl LII!!!

“Now he jacks up the power just for the Super Bowl,
Gets the live stream in Bududa, “Holy cow!”
The stream sucks all the power and in the 4th it’s off the mark,
The Birds make history and Dave is in the dark.”   Calls Derek, Eagles have won….

33-32 Pats in the 4th and we go completely dark!!!

“So he’s shared all the games with friends, it’s so much fun,
Following the Eagles on their historic run,
It couldn’t be better despite the effort made,
The only thing better, to go to the parade!”  Super Bowl Champs, Lovin’ those Birds....

Missed the  games biggest play:  4th and 1 completion with 6 minutes left in the 4th

Super Bowl LII Party, Bududa style complete with Toblerone chocolate!!

This ditty pretty much tells the story of our wild efforts to follow the Birds through their historic and unbelievable run to the Super Bowl.  Our texting and What's App buddies, including our son, Derek, and my sister, Karen, were the greatest!!  And I think we finally worked out most of the kinks, if that's ever possible, so we can now set our sights to watching June's World Cup Soccer Tournament live from Bududa!  We'll keep you posted and if you have any experience/advice with these kinds of connections, please let us know.  Go Birds!!!

  1. David, we can bi-hemisphere co-watch the World Cup. Other than Dorreen and Mike, few around here follow soccer. Every four years someone at a party asks me to explain the offside rule. That's about as far as it goes. GO USA, oh yea GO Ireland, damn Go Italy oops. My countries this WC are Spain and Iceland. Hope they are not in the same group.
